HOW TO GET TO CABANACONDE FROM AREQUIPA
LOCAL BUS AREQUIPA TO CABANACONDE 35.00 SOLES
In Arequipa there are two bus terminals, the Terminal Terrestre and the Terrapuerto, which are located side by side. They are about 15 to 20 minutes by taxi from the centre of Arequipa. Most buses for Chivay and Cabanaconde leave from the Terminal Terrestre but two departures now leave from the Terrapuerto (confirm when you buy your ticket which terminal the bus will be leaving from).
There are three bus companies which travel between Arequipa and Cabanaconde via Chivay. The names companies :Reyna ,Milagro and Andalucía.
All three Companies have offices in the Terminal Terrestre in Arequipa ( bus station ) , where you can buy tickets.

Important: When you buy your bus ticket, be sure to choose a seat on the right side of the bus, since the Colca Canyon is on the right side of the road when travelling from Arequipa to Cabanaconde, and you will have better views.
When you arrive to the terminal terrestre, you can store your large backpack in the hold of the bus. There are four distinct compartments, one of which is dedicated for luggage going to Cabanaconde and is not opened until the bus reaches Cabanaconde. Make sure that your luggage goes into this compartment.
All buses going to Cabanaconde pass through the town of Chivay. The bus will reach Chivay approximately 3 hours after leaving Arequipa, and will usually stay there for 15 to 20 minutes before continuing. This is an opportunity to go to the bathroom and buy something to eat, but there is a risk that people waiting to travel to the villages between Chivay and Cabanaconde will take your seat. If you get off, it is recommended to leave something on your seat (such as an item of clothing) or if you are travelling with a companion, take turns to get off. If someone does take your seat, you can reclaim it by showing your ticket (people travelling from Arequipa with an assigned seat have priority).

This tourist bus service offers a pickup from your hotel between 3:00 and 4:00 am. You have to wait in your hotel at an approximate time without knowing exactly when you will be picked up. This bus doesn’t belong to any travel agency but is a service contracted to a third party. No one will accept responsibility for loss of belongings, delays or problems with the departure.

The minibus service makes two stops on the first day:
- In Chivay for breakfast is not included
- At the Cruz del Condor. However, from 8:30 to 09:00 am

Just behind the TERMINAL TERRESTRE on "Javier Perez de Cuellar" street number 107. It is located next to Andres Avelino Caceres avenue.
Here is the "Transporte del Carpio" Company and inside is the "Caminos del Inca" Company.
Caminos del Inca leaves every day from 05:00hrs to 13:00hrs every hour. But it only goes to the Chivay bus station and from there you can take combis that leave every hour to Cabanaconde.

Next to the TERMINAL TERRESTRE just in the corner of the Andres avelino Caceres there are companies with minivans that leave every our to Chivay .
Travel time from Arequipa to Cabanaconde is 3 hours and from Chivay to Cabanaconde is 1-2 hours.
The last combi (Van) leaves from Chivay to Cabanaconde at 14:00 hrs - 15:00hrs.
For the return trip to Arequipa, the minibuses leave from the main plaza of Cabanaconde between 9:30 and 10:00 am and arrive in Chivay around 12:30 pm. Since it is a bus for those who offer guided trekking tours, you have to stay with the group. When it arrives to Chivay, the bus heads directly to the hot springs of La Calera, before returning to Chivay for lunch. After lunch, it heads back to Arequipa, arriving at around 5:30 pm.
HOW TO GET FROM CABANACONDE - CONDOR CROSS - HOT SPRING - AREQUIPA
LOCAL BUS CABANACONDE - AREQUIPA
All buses leave Cabanaconde from the main plaza. The departures are as follows:
6:30 am Andalucía
9:30 am and 1:30pm Andalucia
11:30 am Trasandino
10:30pm Trasandino
If you take the transport without tourist the transport arrive 7-8 hours after.

The day before buy a ticket to Arequipa from the offices located in Cabanaconde`s main square with Andalucia Company that leaves Cabanaconde around 9:30 am. Get an early bus from Cabanaconde with Andalucia 6:30 am . You will pay 7 soles , the bus to the Cruz del Condor is usually full and you may have to travel standing to the Cruz, but it is only 15 to 20 minutes).
The best time for seeing condors is between 7:00 and 9:00 am. Take plenty of warm clothing, as it can be very cold at the Cruz during the early morning.
You can buy beakfast and drink from the vendors at the Condor cross. The 9:30 am bus from Cabanaconde should arrive by 10:00 am. Get on and claim the seat listed on your ticket to continue to Arequipa.
You can also see the condors this way and return to Cabanaconde, as there is also a bus travelling from Arequipa to Cabanaconde that passes the Cruz del Condor around 9:00 am (Andalucia) just get on and pay 7 soles to return to Cabanaconde).

If i like to visit the hot spring in chivay?
Or take the transpor from condor and descent to Chivay. There there are many other departures to Arequipa. Leave there your backpacks and take a moto taxi to the hot spring pay no more 10.00 soles (10 minutes) , enjoy the hot spring (1 hour) and pay 15.00 Soles. (There are lockers).
Then by mototaxi comback to Chivay main square to take lunch , around the plaza there are many restaurants the walk 10 minutes to the terminal terrestre of Chivay and contune your travel to Arequipa.
CABANACONDE TO PUNO US$50.00
Unfortunately there is no bus that goes directly from Cabanaconde to Puno. However the best way to get to Puno is to take one of the first buses out of Cabanaconde, towards Arequipa at 6:30 am, If you like descent in condor cross, see the condor to the next bus 10:00 am (andalucia that leave from Cabanaconde 9:30 am) and continue with this bus to Chivay arrive 11:30 am - 12:00 pm
And take the Tourist bus on shared service from Chivay to Puno that leave 13:00 ( yes you can book with us)
You will save one day of travel.

How to get to Chivay to take the connection to Puno?
You have these options:
Option 1.-By local bus Cabanaconde – Chivay 15.00 Soles per person
From Cabanaconde you can take the local bus that leaves at 06:30 hrs, for short sections you do not need to buy the ticket in advance, in fact, you cannot buy it, just wait in line and get on the bus, if there are no seats available you will have You have to travel standing and as you pass through the towns people get off and there are more seats available.
This bus arrives in Chivay at 08:30 - 09:00,
Travel tip: (Hot springs)
Go to the office of the bus that goes to Puno, leave your large suitcases in the office,
Take a taxi and after 15 minutes you arrive at the LA CALERA hot springs and stay as long as you want, then take another taxi back to Chivay, have lunch and arrive at the bus office for Puno.
Chivay is a city that is not that big, from the furthest restaurant to the bus office for Puno is a 15-minute walk.
In the Plaza de Chivay there are quite a few restaurants, the bus offices that go to Puno are in the Plaza de Armas.
Option 2.-By tourist bus (minivan) 80.00 Soles per person
Departing from the Cabanaconde main square between 09:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., this minivan makes 2 stops at the best viewpoints, at the Choquetico viewpoint, Antahuilque viewpoint, Maca church and at the Chacapi hot springs in the town of Yanque.
This minivan arrives in Chivay at 12:10hrs and you can tell the driver to drop you off at the bus office that goes to Puno. (Main Square).
Check in at the office, leave your large suitcases at the office, have lunch at a restaurant in the main square and then take the transportation to Puno.
This minivan takes tourists after trekking to Chivay and the city of Arequipa.
Important:
The 3 stops it makes are only 5 minutes each stop, and in the hot springs at that time there are too many people, and they only enjoy the hot springs for 30 minutes.
If you want to make more stops, take your time for visits, enjoy more time in the hot springs and have a quiet lunch, I recommend the following option:
Option 3.- By taxi, Visiting the Cruz del Condor,
all viewpoints and hot springs 250 Soles
You decide the departure time, on the tour you can visit the Cruz del Condor for as long as you want, the Mirador de Tapay and the 4 best viewpoints in the Colca Valley, you can decide how long to stay in the hot springs, have lunch in peace and then with the same car to the bus that goes to Puno.
This is the best option to not miss the beauty of the Colca Valley and its attractions.
It is recommended to leave at 07:00 am.
